Intended purpose

The Anti-Phospholipid LINA 3, an attomol® autoantibody Lineassay, is a manual strip test for the qualitative determination of IgG or IgM antibodies against phospholipids and lipid-binding proteins of the following 9 antigens in human serum, which can be used in the differential diagnosis of anti-phospholipid syndrome (APS):

  • Annexin V
  • Phosphatidylethanolamine
  • Prothrombin
  • ß2-GP I
  • Phosphatidylglycerol
  • Cardiolipin
  • Phosphatidylinositol
  • Phosphatidic acid
  • Phosphatidylserine
Field of application

APS [Lim W., 2009, Hematology Am Soc Hematol Educ Program, 233-9] is one of the most common autoimmune diseases with predisposition to the female sex. Typical clinical symptoms are arterial and venous thrombosis, thrombocytophenia (reduction of platelet count) and habitual miscarriages [Roggenbuck et al., 2011, Elsevier, Autoimmunity Reviews 11, 821-826]. Anti-phospholipid syndrome contains specific antibodies against various phospholipids (cardiolipin, phosphatidic acid, phosphatidylethanolamine, phosphatidylglycerol, phosphatidylserine, phosphatidylinositol) and lipid-binding proteins (ß2-GP I, Annexin V, Prothrombin) [Faricelli et al., 2008, Int J Immunopathol Pharmacol., 21(2):387-92; Jacob H.Rand et al., 2004, Blood, volume 104, number 9;  Monica Galli et al., 2003, Blood, volume 102, number 8]. These so-called anti-phospholipid antibodies lead to increased coagulability (hypercoagulability) of the blood and consequently to an increased incidence of thrombosis [Gibson GE et al., 1997,  J Am Acad Dermatol., 36(6 Pt 1):970-82].
